In Yangoon (Rangoon), this is the best hotel!!! it's very very clean, hot water running all the time, very cheap, and the crew are amazing. I was there twice, enjoyed every minute, and when I was there with Malaria, the crew took care of me, helped me and were really amazing....Highly recommended!!! (usually they will pick you up from the airport for free, so just look for Mo'ne there)

Situated just outside the centre of Yangon, this is perhaps the largest hotel for backpackers to stay. The place is nice enough - they organise free drop offs and pick ups to and from the airport if your flight is in the morning. The staff are very friendly, but you do feel like bit of a number. The breakfast spread is average, but Western and Myanmar options are available (for Myanmar breakfast options, you make your choice the night before). They do have internet access, which costs about 1 USD per hour. A supermarket is less than 5 minutes walk away too, making it an ideal base to stock up on essentials. Although the hotel are quite keen to arrange ticket bookings for you, the service can be a little slow and it's more appropriate for you to go to the agent yourself. The rooms (whichever ones you choose) are spacious, with decent beds and air conditioning. The bathrooms are clean enough but the showers don't always have hot water or decent pressure.
In general, I thought this was a reasonable hotel to stay at but is good value when you consider their prices. The two key selling points about this hostel are that its large (you do get to meet some friendly people to share tales with) and that they provide an airport service (as long as your flights arrive and depart in the morning, you are likely to save a few dollars of cab fare).

Value for money: cheap but friendly and helpful!

I stayed at this cozy guesthouse for 3 nights when I first arrived in Rangoon last February. They arranged for free pick-up at the airport, which went smoothly. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. Rooms are basic but clean! Same for breakfast: nothing special; just good and enough. Had a nice chat with the "boys" (unfortunately forgot their names - see pics!). You will never be alone because there are so many travelers you can have a drink and chat with. Dagon beer is the best!..One minor remark: it's a bit far from the city center if you go on foot....

Cheap, clean, good!

This is one of those hostels you end up at on your first night in Myanmar. Which I guess probably makes it a good kind of hostel to spend your first night in Myanmar. I didn't get airport pick up, but the taxi drivers know of it, so no problem finding it (by the way, it's maximum US$8 from the airport to downtown, if you are getting a taxi). I didn't have a reservation and the hostel was full, but they found me a bed all the same... in the corridor... but at least they didn't just turn me away. The rooms are good, basic, clean, fans etc. and the reception can help you out with booking, organising stuff. As in the rest of the country, the people who run hostels are genuinely nice and friendly. No exception here. They have a bar/restaurant attached to the hostel, which does basics, breakfast and drinks. They do breakfast at whatever hour you are leaving, so no problem if you are off at 5.30am. Recommended. 10 minute walk to downtown. Safe area. In fact, safe country. full stop. They have internet, but it's basic (like everywhere else)..

Great value!

When we arrived in Yangon, Motherland 2 provided a complimentary pick up from the airport, and they gave us a complimentary breakfast before we even checked in. The staff were very helpful with making travel arrangements. We stayed in a US $10 a night room with fan (no ac) and a shared bathroom, and it was nice. Basic rooms, but clean. Our rooms did not have a tv or many amenities. We also stayed in a US $13 a night room with fan and attached bath (no ac), and it was nice as well. No wi-fi, but the computers in the lobby worked well and they charged US $1 an hour. There is a nice shopping mall/grocery store/bakery/etc. about a 5 minute walk from hotel (take a right out of the the lobby and then take your first right - it is just after you cross the railroad tracks on your left). The city center is about a 30-40 minute walk from the hotel, or a US $1-2 taxi ride. We did meet one traveler who had her reservation canceled when a tour group came in and booked a lot of rooms. I got the impression they generally don;t have vacancies at the last minute, so you may want to make a reservation in advance if you are traveling in the high season. We really liked it here, and would stay again .have internet, but it's basic (like everywhere else)

Great value, nice people, stay there!

Great experience, Great experience, beginning with free transport to and from the airport, a welcoming fruit drink or breakfast and endless smiles and laughter from the young efficient staff. The rooms are basic, but so cheap and the location is walking distance from the centre of Yangon. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful plus you also get a decent exchange rate at the hotel too. Brilliant!
